1. Preliminary Notes
----------------------------
Hi there,
the program does not have a help function. I didn't have the nerve to program it. Sorry.
I actually think it doesn't need one, either, since it is very simple in functionality and also self-explanatory. Nevertheless I found a few topics which might be of interest to you.
If you have any further questions or some wishes and ideas on how to improve the program please don't hesitate to contact me at "ingolf@lise.desy.de". Please also see the file "licence.txt" for the legal stuff.

Enjoy

1. Installation
----------------------------
1. Extract all files to the directory where you want the program to reside. That's all for it to run properly.
2. If you want the programm to start automatically when you click on an Address Book, you will have to associate the file extension ".ing" with the Address Book programm. The following describes how to do it under Win 95. I guess, it will be something similar for other windows versions.

- Open Explorer
- Choose "View"/"Options" in the menu
- Choose the "File Types" tab
- Select "New Type"
- Under "Description" write: "Address Book"
- Under "File Extension" type: ".ing"
- Select "New"
- Under "action", type: "open"
- Select "Browse"
- Search for "ading32.exe" ("adingolf.exe" for Win3.1 version)
- Push OK several times until all dialog boxes are closed

----------------------------
2. Keyboard Shortcuts
----------------------------
The program recognizes the following shortcuts:
Strg O Open
Strg S Save
Strg N Add a new address entry
Strg-Shift C	Copy Entry
Strg-Shift V	Paste Entry
Strg-Shift X	Cut Entry
Moreover, when editing an address entry, the edit boxes recognize all standard Windows shortcuts.
---------------------------
3. Use of options file
---------------------------
The options file so far only determines the telephone country code prefix. The default is "00" as it is the case for most European countries. If for your country a different prefix applies you will have to change the first digits at the beginning of the file (There must not be any spaces before the digits)
The option files must be located in the same directory as the executable and it must be named "adingolf.ini". Otherwise the program will use the default.
--------------------------
4. Security Matters
--------------------------
The program was not designed to be especially secure. This is revealed by the following facts:
- There is no password protection for your address book.
- The program does not have an undo function. So be sure about what you are doing before you press the OK or Del buttons, or just make backups.
- Most of all: The program is freeware and the result of the hobby of the author. Therefore it comes without any warranty. See the file "licence.txt" for details.
Nevertheless, there are some security concerns addressed:
- The program takes care to avoid data loss if the computer crashes while writing you address book to harddrive.
- If your address book files become corrupted or for any other reasons the program refuses to read them properly there is the chance to restore your data by using the reformat function.

5. Printing
----------------------------
The program does not have a print function itself. I figured that I could never provide a print function that can compete with your word processor. Instead just use Copy Special to transfer the data you want to print to the word processor. There you can adjust the layout to your taste and needs.
